This review is for the Carr Subaru used car department. Buying car from the Carr used car department was by far the worst car buying experience that I’ve ever had. They pulled (or tried to pull) every trick in the book. Everything from the ole “let me go talk to my manager” trick to sweat us out, to pressuring us to use their financing, to sneaking in extra charges in the final sales price. They also failed to mention that there was only one key (which subsequently cost me $300 to get a second key). I didn’t know that buying a car could be such a horrible experience. The buying process should have taken about an hour or two. It took 5.5 hours. That’s not an exaggeration. I understand that their service department is better, but I’d suggest that everyone completely avoid the Carr Subaru used car department.

We bought a 2017 Tahoe from Carr. We saw it in the dark. They said that the tires were new, but they are only about 40%. Also they are cheap hancook tires. Carr did a search and said that the car had no reported accidents. They did not disclose that it had been a rental in Hawaii for six years, then in California. They told us that the windshield was brand new. However the next day we saw an oil change sticker on the windshield from a previous owner in Prineville. The car came with one smashed remote which they did not disclose until after the paperwork was signed and which they would not replace. Since we bought it two weeks ago, the car has had a series of problems. We went to an independent alignment shop which found that the wheel alignment bar had been bent in an accident. They were able to align it correctly. They told us that the steering wheel was turned in such a way that it would indicate to anyone that the car had been in an accident. Carr had not disclosed this. We did not inspect the engine compartment. The engine is covered with squirrel debris. Carr promised that they had repaired the left-front tire pressure monitor. It does not work. Phone calls to John Reuter at Carr are not returned.

What a disaster. Don't ever buy from Carr. Sold me A lemon 20 yrs ago...got my money back under lemon law. Then had a deal ready on a truck this year and they sold it out from under me. Furthermore, they kept trying to nickle and dime. Stunning. BUY FORD OR DODGE!!!!

These guys are why people loathe the car buying process. *High pressure "Don't leave! How can we make this deal for you?" *Hook! Line! and Sinker! We took the bait and I was foolish enough to fall for the bogus$1998.00 fee that was not!? included in the financing. I was duped into writing a check. They snuck this in after we said we would stay if they reduced the price by $2000.00. Yup! I'm such a fool. That wasn't all. I requested my own financial institution. They came back concerned about the income verification. They, instead, goated us into using ONPOINT Comunity credit union. Theirs!!! Yup! kickbacks!! Three days later, I received the approval letter from my credit union saying that they were closing the Loan approval on the basis that I did not follow through. I(we) were cheated and lied to. STAY AWAY! from Carr auto group in Beaverton. BUTT WAIT! The aftermath of our purchase was as follows: We drove Our 2018 Hyundai Tucson for 7 months. It stalled was taken to repair. They said there was no oil😱 No oil leak though🤬 Stallwd again on the way to a family memorial service that we missed😭 It sat on one repair lot waiting for what they said was a defective engine for 9 MONTHS!!!! two months at a five star repair shop for break down and diagnosing. They contacted the insurance company (We paid extra for) and we we informed that The $7000.00 new engine cost was fully covered. We picked up our car last month. 1 MONTH SHY OF 1 YEAR!!! It was fully paid for. In that year, we relied on family and friends for transportation to and from Dr's appt, cancer surgery, and post cancer treatments. We picked up our car one week after her last cancer treatment. Did Carr Auto group know they were selling us a defective vehicle??? We only became aware of these well documented defective engines after our purchase. What a nightmare!!!!!😡😠🤬😱😭🥺🤮🤢🤕🤒😵‍💫😵😷

Our Forester was hit from behind by a distracted, uninsured driver from another state. The criteria for repair was three-fold. We wanted to be sure the car was repaired with genuine manufacturer parts; meet the manufacturer's highest standards for repairs (yes, they exist); and repaired at a AAA Approved repair facility. The Forester receives regular maintenance at Carr Subaru, so the decision for repair work was almost a foregone conclusion. We are extremely satisfied with the results. My only criticism would be: Please give regular status updates regarding the repair cycle to the vehicle's owner. Phone, e-mail, or text messages should be a low impact solution to keeping the owner in the loop, relative to expected finish date/time.
